Dry Ice Shipping Boxes at Air Sea Containers

We understand the importance of keeping temperature sensitive materials within strict temperature ranges, and our insulated packaging solutions are designed to give you peace of mind and provide the optimal conditions for transit.

Dry ice is subject to dangerous goods regulations when transported via air or sea. Therefore, consignors must adhere to strict modal regulations stipulated in IATA and IMDG for UN1845 substances to ensure the safe and compliant shipping.

At Air Sea Containers, our dry ice shipping boxes are:

  • Designed and constructed to permit the release of carbon dioxide gas: to prevent a build-up of pressure that could rupture the packaging.
  • Insulated for extended cold retention: Our boxes are designed to keep products at the right temperature.
  • Various sizes & capacities: From small scale shipments to larger bulk deliveries, we have solutions for all needs.

With our dry ice shipping boxes, you can rest assured of packaging regulatory compliance.

Dry Ice Shipping Box Functions

  • Food: Ensure freshness and safety during transport of perishable goods, including ready-to-eat meals, dairy products, frozen and fresh produce.
  • Pharmaceutical & biotechnology: Our dry ice packaging can be used for temperature sensitive items, such as biological substances when used with certified packaging suitable for Class 6.2 . Also suitable for non-hazardous items such as vitamins, supplements and over the counter medications.
  • Medical & laboratory usage: Ensure the safe transport of diagnostic samples, blood, and tissue cultures. Packaging is fully compliant with Class 6.2 Infectious Substance regulations when used with Class 6.2 UN certified packaging as an inner. Dry Ice Shipping Boxes FAQs

Our dry ice shipping box is an insulated packaging solution used to transport temperature sensitive goods while maintaining a frozen environment. It is often required for industries such as biotechnology, and food logistics.

Our dry ice shipping boxes have a polystyrene internal liner with a fibreboard outer, and are delivered fully assembled. They are designed and constructed to permit the release of carbon dioxide gas to prevent a build-up of pressure that could rupture the packaging.
High density polyethylene also offers superior insulation, helping to keep temperatures low during the transport of temperature sensitive materials.

Although packaging containing dry ice does not need to carry a UN Mark, it must be packaging that has been designed and constructed to permit the release of carbon dioxide gas.

Dry Ice UN 1845 is subject to dangerous goods transport regulations when shipping via air and sea. Shippers must refer to IATA and IMDG regulations for the relevant packing instructions (PI 954 IATA & P003 IMDG).
Typical requirements include:
– Use of proper packaging that allows CO₂ release
– Use of correct labels where required, such as Class 9
– Include the net weight of dry ice in each package

When shipping dry ice via road, shippers must refer to *ADR for correct marking requirements such as ‘DRY ICE’ or ‘CARBON DIOXIDE, SOLID’.
*Not subject to ADR except for ADR 5.5.3.4.1

The cold retention time depends on several factors, including:
– How much dry ice is used
– External temperature conditions
– The insulation properties of the shipping box

Typically, our thermal packaging can maintain frozen temperatures in transit for up to 72 hours.

Yes, dry ice shipping boxes can be transported internationally. However, you must ensure to follow:
– IATA regulations for air transport
– *ADR regulations for road transport
– IMDG regulations for sea
– Customs requirements for the receiving country

Many of our temperature controlled packaging solutions are reusable. However, it is essential to ensure that the insulation and box remain intact and that any necessary labels are updated for future shipments.
