Small amounts of dangerous goods can be transported as Limited Quantities in packaging that has not been UN approved.
Limited quantity packaging must consist of inner packaging packed inside suitable outer packaging with the most common type being a 4G Fibreboard box.
All regulations state that a water resistance test by the Cobb method should be conducted when checking capability. Whilst drop and stack tests are only a requirement under Air regulations, it would be considered good practice to carry these out also when transporting by road and sea to evaluate performance capability.
Our LQ boxes listed above have all undergone Cobb tests and conform to construction requirements of 6.1.4 of the UN Model Regulation as a minimum, whilst our Capability Tested LQ range have all been further tested for 1.2m Drop Test & 3m Stack Tests to prove capability for use by air.
For those wishing to ship by Air we offer capability testing facilities for proven capabilities where required.
For those using their own fibreboard box for shipping Limited Quantities and require to prove its capability, get in touch and we can help.
